A shrieking drill at a road construction site. Rowdy drunk people on the last subway. The sensory overload of sound and images while scrolling through social media. Or the endless spiraling of thoughts in one’s own mind that just won’t stop. This is all noise. Noise never truly stops. In Paula Rosolen’s latest work, three dancers search for a physical expression of this omnipresent phenomenon. The choreographer—now acclaimed far beyond Frankfurt—asks to what extent noise reflects societal and historical change. Is it merely an expression of unrest and dissonance, or is there more hidden behind it? And how does noise shape our perception? Rosolen’s compelling choreography moves within a tension field between chaos and clarity, explosion and simplicity.
