Aerobics! – A Ballet in 3 Acts is a piece for seven dancers that develops a new perspective on aerobics as both a form of exercise and the physical training practice that took the world by storm in the 1980s. Within a three-act structure, dancers investigate the relationship between dance, choreography and aerobics in terms of its aesthetics and coordinated movements. The piece becomes a precise study and reinterpretation of the way this fitness practice is structured beneath the surface. The vocabulary of aerobic movement is brought into an unusual structural and spatial relationship, disassembled and then put back together. It is treated as choreographic dance material, and has dramaturgical linearity and content applied to it in order to develop it into movements and alternating rhythms.
"Standing ovations for a breathtaking evening"
Martina Dreisbach, Frankfurter Neue Presse
