Die Farce der Suche is an attempt to approach the figure of Renate Schottelius, one of the most important dancers and pioneers of German expressionist dance in Argentina. Out of a thousand tiny fragments of memory, Paula Rosolen creates an image of her mystified personality, transforming verbally described movements into a new dance piece. For the first time, archived documents are transformed into a communicative memory, simultaneously reviving a history of dance long thought lost.
"The performance by Paula Rosolen also ensured that German artists would leave a lasting impression on the festival audience. The uniqueness of her project lies in its reportage-style narrative, exploring the character of the Argentine dancer Renate Schottelius. Dancer Natalia Mariel Gomez brought alive old memories of Schottelius, interspersing her performance with elements such as clips of interviews given by the famous dancer to produce a highly original piece of theater that combined dance with documentary material."
